Who I am
This site, and the tools, forms, workshops and materials linked to it, are run by Simon Owen, trading as EmPOWER Your World. I decide how your information is used, which makes me the “controller” under UK data protection law.
Contact: simon@empoweryour.world · 14 Highlands Avenue, Leatherhead, Surrey. KT22 8NN.
The short version
I collect as little as I can, and only for a reason you’d expect.
Where something is optional, it starts at “no” and stays that way unless you say yes.
I never sell your information, and I don’t share it except as described here.
You can change your mind, see what I hold, or ask me to delete it, at any time.

This website

Legal basis: see “Cookies” below.
Kept for: 12 Months.
I don’t ask for sensitive information, such as health, beliefs or similar, and workshop activities are designed so you never have to give any. If you choose to include something like that, I’ll keep it only if you’ve agreed, and delete it otherwise.
Who else handles your information
I use a small number of trusted services to run the work. They act on my instructions and under contract:
Microsoft 365: Forms, email, file storage, and access to participant materials. Data is held in UK or EU.
Squarespace: website hosting. Squarespace’s own privacy notice covers any analytics it runs.
AI tools: I use AI assistants to help prepare and analyse materials. I don’t put names or contact details into them. Workshop notes give the option to be anonymised, and the services I use are set not to train on what I give them.
I’ll share information with others only if the law requires it, or if you’ve asked me to. One example is sharing your email with other participants, which happens only if you tick that option.
Transfers outside the UK
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, I rely on recognised safeguards: UK adequacy regulations, the UK–US Data Bridge, or the ICO-approved international data transfer agreement.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
see the information I hold about you;
correct it;
delete it;
limit how I use it;
give it to you in a portable format;
stop using it where I rely on legitimate interests.
Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. That won’t affect anything done before you withdrew. Email simon@empoweryour.world and I’ll respond within one month. I don’t make automated decisions about you.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first at simon@empoweryour.world. I’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as quickly as I can. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This site uses Squarespace and Bing Wemaster tools to count visits and see which pages are useful. I don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Security
I keep information in access-controlled Microsoft 365 storage, with multi-factor authentication. I keep printed workshop cards secure and destroy them securely once their contents are recorded.
Children
This site and my workshops are intended for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update the version and date at the top. If the change affects something you’ve agreed to, I’ll tell you directly.
