v0.1 - Retirement Budget Planning
LINK TO FILE
Would anyone like to be a guinea pig and play with a spreadsheet I've been playing with to try to help plan my path to Financial Independence and then how I might plan my spending through go-go, slow-go, and no-go phases?
It allows me to plan how much I'm going to add to my SIPP, ISA, GIA and also forecast additional stuff like cash, salary, rental income, side hustles, etc. and see how those investments might grow at a chosen average growth rate and what the 4% withdrawal would be for the total investment pot.
I can then put in how much I'm going to plan to get from State Pension, and withdraw from SIPP, ISA, GIA etc. and compare that to a budget I'm expecting to need each year.
It's not perfect (the biggest stumbling block being that it can't account for the various taxes / deductions from each pot) but it enables me to play around with different scenarios like how long I might have to / want to work, how much to contribute to different investments wrappers, how they might grow etc. and the effect of taking money from one place vs another.
I've put some instructions on it to help people set it up for themselves and their numbers. I've also created a couple of examples for different scenarios using some made up numbers.
It's created in Excel - I don't know how it will behave if opened in other things like Google Sheets?
Any feedback and improvement ideas are very welcome :)
I hope it's useful! 😊🤞
